Little thing is Something

Other than writing a humble article for regular posting and teaching a little knowledge to university students, the writer contented to a simple activity he did.

Food for Peace

On August 09, 2009 the Muslim Youth Movement an youth organization aiming for sustainable peace in development based in Western Mindanao State University in Zamboanga City, Philippines organized a 'Food for Peace' in Tetuan same city. As adviser of the group the writer felt satisfied to the little accomplishment.

Giving few foods to unfortunate children is something to be appreciated in the eyes of God.

Islamic Leadership and Governance
The author decided to open new blog entitled Islamic Leadership and Governance: Peaceful Solution to Sulu and Mindanao. The URL address is http://www.islamic-leadership.blogspot.com/. The aim of the new blog is to promote Islamic Leadership and Governance as peace tool to Sulu and Mindanao. After the finalization of the blog the author excited to post for publication and this was another little achievement for a non-expert writer like him.

God give us only little time for our great adventure in life. As long as the writer is still breathing then valuing time is thing to be celebrated through little achievement.

Sulu Sea: Pirates “Hot Spot”

In the article Innovators of the World, Unite! by Dan Denningpublished in the www.whiskeyandgunpowder.com/archive on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 quoted the article Pirates of the Sulu Sea, Oil Chokepoints by Austin Bay (http://www.austinbay.net/):

If we are going to look up the tourism map of the Philippines, the government of the Philippines is starting to erase Sulu Sea from the world arena. Enemies of Sulu are just envying its natural richness found in Sulu Sea, like Pearl of Allah is now known as the largest pearl of the world.

Written article, Pirates? What Pirates? - Part 2, posted athttp://www.sailblogs.com/ said that “for centuries, pirates prey on ships and vessels passing through Southeast Asia. Unlike in some countries, where piracy grew and developed much from poverty and lawlessness, in the Sulu Sea, piracy was a way of life, a career and considered the "profession of a gentleman". Probably as early as the first century before the Christian era, the Moros first landed in Sulu.”

The writer is entitled to his own opinion, but he should have strong evidence that in “the Sulu Sea, piracy was a way of life, a career and considered the "profession of a gentleman". I am still very thankful to him that even though he mentioned Sulu Sea Pirates, but he didn’t mean that Sulu people were the pirates. This is perhaps; he cannot prove that people here are pirates.

American troops are currently operating in Sulu Sea areas, helping the Philippine Armed Forces in their efforts to subdue the so called terrorists and pirates in the area.

One of the reasons of the American Government to abrogate the Kiram-Bates Treaty of 1899 on March 1904, accordingly, Sulu Sultan failed to stop piracy. Whose piracy it was? No definite answer. I think it was Uncle Sam.

Who are the true pirates of the Sulu Sea, are these the Sulus itself or the other nationality went to Sulu Sea to steal the natural gas and oil found here? Only God Knows!!!
